What this question trains

This problem tests whether you understand the structure of a basic restructuring cash flow model and how each section links to the next. In an investment banking interview, you are expected to follow the flow of cash from operating activity, through non operating items, and into the final cash balance, because that is how analysts assess liquidity and a company’s ability to meet obligations during a restructuring process.

Interviewers ask this type of question to see if you can organize a financial model logically, distinguish operating from non operating cash items, and explain how beginning cash becomes ending cash after all period cash movements are taken into account.
