What this question trains

This question practices bankruptcy and restructuring judgment, especially how DIP financing is evaluated in a court-supervised process. Candidates need to understand the tradeoff between giving a distressed company access to new funding and protecting the rights of existing secured creditors, including the role of collateral, creditor priority, and whether the financing supports the company’s reorganization. Interviewers ask this because DIP financing is a core concept in financial restructuring, and bankers are expected to explain why courts allow it only when the structure is justified and the estate is better served than it would be in liquidation.
